Inga Saffron, real estate critic, from The Philadelphia Inquirer, wrote a great story on third story additions in the city.  3rd Story Philly's Phil Katz was interviewed for the piece!

No one in the city has a good handle on how many overbuilds are going up. But Phil Katz, a developer-contractor who named his company 3rd Story Philly, says he is getting three or four requests a week from homeowners. He has overseen about eight additions, including his own in Bella Vista, since his w...

The following article was published in the Spring issue of Philadelphia Row Home Magazine.  3rd Story Philly was honored to be featured in it!

"South Philadelphia is bursting at its seam with people!  From growing families to new neighbors and businesses, property owners and developers alike are looking for ways to accommodate this ongoing crave for space.

In their quest for linear expansion, Phil Katz and wife Leah decided to build a third story addition on their house in Bella Vista back in 2012....

Despite holiday and weather setbacks this Winter, we are making great progress on this 3rd and 4th story addition on the 2300 block of Waverly St.  The views up on top of the 4th floor second tier deck are unobstructed and breathtaking.

Spec sheet for all the finish...

In 2012, when kids were imminent, he and his wife decided to raise the roof on their Bella Vista rowhouse instead of moving. 'Six months later, we had 600 more square feet of customized space, two roof...

3rd Story Philly is working with client's, Karl and Sarah, who recently bought a two story home in Fitler Square.  The house couldn't be more perfectly located in the heart of the neighborhood but the young couple knows that the ability to start a family in the house would greatly benefit from another 600 square foot addition which could be added "by-right" with an 8 foot setback from the front.  The lot is deep so this set back isn't an issue at all.  However, their address is on the historic reg...
